Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 01 May 2026

FuelaFleet ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. We built FuelaFleet with a strict "Local-First" philosophy. This means that your data belongs to you, and we do not want it, collect it, or have access to it. This Privacy Policy explains how our iOS and Android applications handle your information to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

1. What Personal Data We Collect

We collect absolutely no personal data on our servers. FuelaFleet does not require you to create an account, register an email address, or provide a password to us. We do not operate central database servers for Version 1.0 of this app.

2. Where Your Data is Stored

All data you enter into FuelaFleet (including car details, logbooks, driver names, and financial expenses) is stored locally on your personal device. If you use Apple iCloud or Google Drive backup features, your data is synced securely through your personal Apple or Google accounts. We have zero access to your device, your database, or your cloud backups.

3. Why We Ask for Device Permissions

To provide core features, the app requests access to certain device hardware. All processing happens locally on your phone:

  • Location (GPS): Used exclusively to calculate route distances for your Logbook and to find nearby gas stations/mechanics using public map APIs. We do not track you or record your location history on our servers.
  • Camera / Photos: Used exclusively so you can take pictures of fuel receipts and attach them to your local database. We do not have access to your photo gallery.
  • Bluetooth: Used exclusively to connect to your personal ELM327/OBD2 vehicle dongle to read live telemetry (e.g., Odometer, Fuel Level).

4. Third-Party Services

Because the app integrates with standard web APIs to function, your device may communicate anonymously with:

  • OpenStreetMap (Nominatim / Overpass): Used to convert your GPS coordinates into street addresses for your Logbook.
  • Google / Apple Maps: Used when you click “Navigate” to hand off coordinates to your preferred navigation app.

These services act independently and have their own privacy policies.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Under the GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California), you have the right to access, rectify, port, and delete your personal data. Because FuelaFleet does not hold your data, you have absolute control. To exercise your “Right to be Forgotten” or “Right to Erasure,” simply tap “Delete App” on your device. This will permanently destroy your local database.

6. Contact Us
